Although this work forms part of the Seamed series, I spent so long with these particular still life arrangements—often a week with each—that the sunflower images gradually became a project of their own. I ended up spending an entire summer photographing sunflowers, so it felt right to give them their own space. These images were influenced by Vincent van Gogh’s sunflower paintings.
