Kirsty
Thomas

Kirsty Thomas is an artist based in Brighton, England, where she also works as a Photography Technical Instructor at the University of Brighton. She specialises in analogue photography, with a focus on black-and-white printing and alternative processes. Her practice is rooted in making everything by hand, from start to finish.

Her work explores and challenges the historically masculine authorship of the gaze in visual culture. Through her practice, she critiques patriarchal systems that shape not only the art world but also the wider visual landscape. She often draws on traditional feminine and domestic crafts—practices that have long been overlooked or undervalued—and reimagines them within her work.
