Kirsty
Thomas

Kirsty Thomas is an artist based in Brighton, England, where she also works as a Photography Technical Instructor at the University of Brighton. She specializes in analogue techniques, with a focus on black-and-white printing and alternative processes. Central to her work is the practice of creating images by hand at every stage of production.

Kirsty's artistic practice explores the feminine relationship with looking, challenging the traditionally masculine authorship of gaze in visual culture. Through her work, she critiques patriarchal systems that dominate not only the art world but also the broader visual landscape. She revisits traditionally feminine and domestic crafts, often associated with women, to redefine and reframe their significance in contemporary art.
